An Art Deco Brooch — Platinum and an Old-European Diamond
Old European-cut diamond · 2.50 ct · J–K · VS1 (center)

A slender bar of gold and silver, set with the soft, candlelit sparkle that only rose-cut diamonds give. This is Victorian work in its quiet register — ornament meant to be worn close to the collar and read at conversational distance.
Dating to the 1870s, the brooch follows the period's habit of topping yellow gold with silver to flatter the diamonds — a setting choice made long before the white metals we now take for granted. Twenty-nine rose cuts are arranged around a central cluster, their facets catching light the way modern brilliants never quite do.
The diamonds total 3.50 carats (I–W, SI2–I1), set in 14K yellow gold with a silver top; 10.74 grams in all.
